Sarah Jacob

About
Sarah Jacob is the President and Senior Practitioner at SMM Law Professional Corporation, as of 2004. After practicing in Thunder Bay and Toronto, in 2001 Sarah joined Ron Mitchell of Stewart, Mitchell & Macklin in Cobourg; becoming Managing Partner in 2003.
Sarah earned her LLB from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, after achieving a BA in English and Religious Studies from the University of St. Michael’s College. Her work hours as a lawyer focus on her areas of expertise: Corporate and Commercial Law, Estate Planning and Administration, and Real Estate.
Sarah has a history of engagement and advocacy in support of women, low-income families, and the homeless. Sarah is also an active supporter of the Arts in Northumberland and a current board member for the Art Gallery of Northumberland, in Cobourg. Sarah is also a board member for Northumberland Supportive Non-Profit Housing Corporation.

Graham Andrews

About
Graham Andrews joined SMM Law as an Associate in June 2016 after working at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto. He was called to the Bar in 2012. He earned his Juris Doctor from Bond University in Queensland, Australia and has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History from Trinity College, University of Toronto.
Graham is experienced in estate planning as well as estate litigation, when it becomes necessary. His real estate practice encompasses all aspects of real estate law including purchases, sales, refinances, severances, and land development.
In his litigation practice Graham has appeared before the Environmental Review Tribunal, the Ontario Municipal Board, Small Claims Court, Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court and Court of Appeal. He worked on successful appeals of the first Renewable Energy Approvals granted in Ontario, as well as numerous other actions, appeals, applications, and judicial reviews.
Graham is currently the Chair of the Cobourg Heritage Advisory Committee and sits on the Executive of the Cobourg and East Northumberland Branch of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario.
Graham relocated to Cobourg with his wife in 2015. In his leisure time Graham can be found chasing around after his young daughter and two dachshunds, as well as curling, gardening, live theatre, and woodworking.

Anneke Russell

About
Anneke Russell joined SMM Law Professional Corporation as an Associate in 2017 after being admitted to the Bar of Ontario. Prior to this she was called to the bar as an Attorney-at-Law in Jamaica and a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Anneke graduated top of her class from Norman Manley Law School in 2013, after completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from The University of the West Indies in 2011, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Waterloo in 2006. Her experience before being called to the Bar in Ontario included interning with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, studying Company Law and Civil Litigation in Jamaica, and practicing Civil Litigation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Anneke grew up on the beautiful island of Jamaica, but spent many summers in Cobourg visiting her family-who are descendants of one of Northumberland County’s large Dutch farming families. In 2015 she decided to return to her roots and move home to Cobourg with her husband. When she has the time, Anneke enjoys gardening with her children.

Tonya King

Licensed Paralegal| Notary Public
About
Tonya King joined SMM Law Professional Corporation as an office administrator and law clerk in 2011, having worked in the legal industry since 2000. Over the years, with continued education and experience her role within the firm evolved and she is now a licensed paralegal and the Office Manager at SMM Law.
Tonya passed the Law Society of Ontario Paralegal exam in November 2024 and became a fully licensed paralegal in January 2025. She represents the firm’s clients on Small Claims matters and Landlord and Tenant Disputes.
Tonya continues to support the firm’s lawyers and staff in all aspects, including: client intake; document preparation; court filings; and client, staff and office management.
Tonya has served as Chair for the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce (2017) and is excited to join and support other organizations in lovely Northumberland County.
Tonya enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her husband, Larry, and their children and grandchildren.

William G. MacDonald B.A., LL.B., LL.M.

About
Bill hails from Sarnia, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College (B.A. 1973) and Osgoode Law, York University (LL.B. 1976). He articled with Goodman & Carr in Toronto, (1976-77) and was called to the Ontario Bar on April 14th, 1978. He completed an LL.M. in International Business Law, (Osgoode Law – 1992).
Bill worked in Toronto, (1978-1989), first in private practice and then as corporate counsel with Philips Electronics Ltd. In 1989 he joined Stewart, Mitchell & Macklin in Cobourg. In 1994 he opened his own law offices. He assumed the law practices of Gordon C. Kelly, Q.C. (2004) and Helen J. Charette, (2014). On July 1st, 2022, Bill amalgamated his practice with SMM Law, remaining as “counsel” to the firm.
Bill is an active community member. He and his wife, Jane, enjoy sports, reading, and travel, especially visiting their children and grandchildren.

Bobbi-Jo Saucier

About
Bobbi-Jo Saucier joined SMM Law Professional Corporation as Counsel in Family Law matters in 2020, specializing in Family Law and Child Protection.
Bobbi-Jo completed her undergraduate studies at York University – Glendon College and went on to obtain a Masters Degree in Criminology from the University of Toronto before attending Law School. She obtained her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Ottawa graduating magna cum laude and commenced her legal career in 2012 as Legal Counsel for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa before returning to Northumberland County to practice almost exclusively in Family Law.
Bobbi-Jo was called to the Bar in 2012 and has been practising primarily in Family Law in Brighton with two other local firms.
Bobbi-Jo has served as the Vice-President and a Director for the Brighton Children’s Centre since 2018. When she is not in the office or volunteering her time, she spends her time with her family, chasing after her two energetic sons and being a “taxi” to their sports and music activities.
